Stelight Instrument Specification BI6201-LIV CoC/COS test system

General Information

Stelight Instrument BI6201-LIV is a COC/COS laser test system for fiber optical communication industry. It provide a temperature controlled environment in which to test photonics components. Devices can be tested either packaged or in the chip-carrier form. Different devices only need to change different fixtures. System support DFB, EML, DBR, VCSEL and Tunable laser, as well as pump laser.

Stelight Instrument BI6201-LIV support database, test data can upload to database. With integrated Quick query function, it is easy to check every devices information very quickly. MES interface is also available.

Temperature is well controlled by Stelight Instrument home made special TEC controller which integrated TEC controller and cooling water together. Compact and powerful. Temperature range is -10-100C. Down to -40C is an available option.

System Description

Stelight Instrument BI6201-LIV is Standard Stelight LIV test system. The LIV testing system share the same fixture with BI6201/BI8201 Burn-In System.

Automatically to measure and compare result (LIV and spectrum data) pre and post burn-in, and then make screening.

Support all kinds of COC/COS, including DFB/VCSEL/EML/Tunable lasers and pump lasers.

Temperature is controlled by TEC + cooling water, temperature uniformity is +/-1C, stability is +/-0.5C.

For VCSEL, the power detector (For LIV scanning) and lensed fiber (For optical coupling of spectrum measurement) will be relocated from side to the top.

For Tunable lasers, the rig has the pre-heating for fast temperature control, improve test efficiency.measure tunable laser, the thermistor on each CoS will be probed to help control laser temperature accurately, then wavelength could be measured accurately for screening before and after BI.

For pump lasers, large area PD will be changed to integrating sphere as pump laser optical power is high.

Could also support Near field and Far field testing if needed.

System Stability and Accuracy

Temperature and LIV stability

With built-in precision monitor sensors & feedback control, Stelight Instrument BI6201-LIV has very stable temperature and voltage performance in all burn-in and life-test period. The following diagram show the raw Temperature of 8 thermistors at position 1, 6, 11, 16, 17, 22, 27, 32 respectively.

With built-in precision SMU, Stelight Instrument BI6201-LIV has very stable good G R&R for LIV test. Repeatability <1%.
