General Information

The Stelight Instrument PBT8856 is a high performance, easy to use, cost-effective, Multi-channel 28Baud (56Gb/s) PAM4 BERT for current 200G/400G TOSA/ROSA components R&D and manufacturing environments as well as field installations. It is fully features for characterizing crosstalk susceptibility, backplanes, and multi- lane serial data systems, and it is also a good tool for production testing of AOC and electro- optical modules.

The PBT8856 incorporates an internal reference clock, a pattern generator with pre- emphasis and an error detector with CTLE equalizer, in one compact size which provides multi electrical channel interfaces at data rates up to 56Gb/s (PAM4) 28Gb/s (NRZ) for each lane. 

The PBT8856 baud rate can be adjustable and with settable data pattern of QPRBS 27-1, 29-1, 213-1,215-1, 223-1, 231-1,

Square wave and a fixed 128-bit user-defined pattern. According to latest IEEE802.3bs

(D1P4), the PBT8856 support PRBS13Q/31Q pattern with Gary Code. The BERT system is controlled by external computer via either USB port or 10M/100M Ethernet port, with full software support, drivers and programming guide for automation.
